About Sarah
Sarah Lovely has over 20 years of experience working in admissions and college counseling. She has helped roughly 950 families—from all walks of life, all over the globe, and with all different interests—navigate the college process, from building a balanced list of schools and considering academic planning to advising on essay writing and supplemental enhancements. In addition to working with first year college applicants, Sarah also has substantial experience guiding transfer students, students seeking admission to private high schools, and those applying to graduate school. Sarah’s students have been admitted to the top liberal arts colleges, research universities, conservatories, art schools, and independent schools in the world.
Sarah began her career in 2002 working at the renowned Juilliard School, followed by four years of working in advising, admissions, and administration at New York University’s elite Tisch School of the Arts. After moving back to her native New England in 2008, Sarah worked in admissions and academic services at Brandeis University, where she oversaw merit scholarships and led students through medical school and fellowship (Fulbright, Rhodes) applications. Following Brandeis, Sarah served as Director of College Counseling at Walnut Hill School for the Arts for 10 years, before starting her own company in 2020. During her time as a college counselor, Sarah has guided students with diverse interests to achieve their individualized path, from majors in biomedical engineering and classical music to accounting and physical therapy. Sarah loves supporting families through the sometimes daunting and complex task of considering post-high school paths, and she subscribes to the notion that the college process is about identifying fit and achieving growth (and, most certainly, maintaining a sense of self and humor).
Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where she was a four year varsity swimmer and senior captain (and 2 year soccer and water polo player), and an actor in numerous productions. Later, she attained her master’s degree at NYU, where she developed a reentry program for formerly incarcerated men and women from New York state’s maximum security prisons. In her younger days, Sarah also spent quite a bit of time on a luge at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid. Sarah lives with her husband and four children in Milton, Massachusetts.
Leadership, Affiliations, and Service
Since 2010, Sarah has been a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and the New England Association for College Admission Counseling. From 2010-2020, Sarah was also actively involved in the Boston Independent School College Counselors Association and the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools. Sarah routinely serves as an expert, panelist, and moderator at numerous local, regional, and national events and conferences. In 2024, she was featured on five episodes of the national podcast, Your College Bound Kid.
Additionally, Sarah has held leadership positions at all institutions where she has worked. Most notably, she was appointed as faculty representative to the Walnut Hill Board of Trustees, and was tapped to co-chair the School’s 10 year re-accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Sarah was also twice selected by her peers as the EE Ford recipient for outstanding faculty member.
Within her community of Milton, MA, Sarah volunteers as an elected Town Meeting Member and as a Board Member on the Milton Foundation for Education. She also serves as an Alumni Fund Director and Class Agent at her alma mater, Bowdoin College.
